Gentle Beginnings with Unique Births

Gentle Beginnings – A Unique Postnatal Group

Book Here

Welcome to Gentle Beginnings – a weekly postnatal group for mums and birthing parents with babies aged 0–6 months.

Unlike most baby groups, Gentle Beginnings is not about fixing sleep or feeding patterns, or ticking milestones. It’s about you – your wellbeing, your voice, and your experience of the early months of parenthood.

This is a gentle, safe, and supportive space where you can simply be. Some weeks you may feel like joining in a group conversation about the highs and lows of parenthood, while other weeks you may just want to sit back with coffee, cake, and the reassurance that you’re not alone.

Our qualified postnatal practitioner and in-house feeding expert are there every week – not to judge or tell you what to do, but to listen, support, and hold space. We believe parents don’t need to be “fixed” any more than their babies do. Instead, we focus on how you are coping with the reality of broken sleep, changing emotions, and all the demands of new parenthood.

Parents tell us this group is “the space I didn’t know I needed,” “the thing that saved me in those early weeks,” and “the only group where I could be completely honest.”

Why join Gentle Beginnings?

  • A postnatal group that focuses on the parent, not just the baby

  • A safe, welcoming space to share honestly – the good and the hard

  • No judgement, no pressure, no cliques

  • Connection with other new parents who get it

  • Support from qualified practitioners who combine kindness with expertise

  • Coffee, cake, and the freedom to just be yourself

Price: £7.50Includes hot drink and cake

Felted Soaps Workshop

In this workshop we will be using a wool roving to create beautiful felted soaps. Wool has anti-fungal and anti-bacterial qualities making it perfect for this craft. Felted soaps are great to you as you don’t need a flannel or sponge, and the felt shrinks with your soap. When finished they make great washing sponges or tumble dryer balls!

You will have chance to make up to three soaps with all materials, full instruction and even a hot drink included.

Home Ed Thursday - week 6
Oct

Home Ed Thursday - week 6

This is the sixth session of a block of 6 lessons. As the block has already started, if you would like to book please message us.

Maths GCSE/ Higher KS3 and Lower KS3

Higher GCSE - 9:30 - 10:15

Foundation GCSE/Higher KS3 - 12:40pm - 1:30pm

Lower KS3 - 10:20 - 11:05

The GCSE lessons taught by Katie run twice a week. For those who wish to cover the syllabus in one year they would need to do both lessons, or to cover over two years they should take one lesson a week. We will be working towards the IGCSE Mathematics syllabus in order that students can, if they wish, take their exams in November even if they are not 16. As the IGSCe syllabus includes the vast majority of the GCSE syllabus it would still be possible to sit the GCSE if you prefer.

These lessons include homework which is expected to be handed in each week in order to track progress, as well as termly assessments for children to complete at home and hand in.

The Foundation GCSE is also suitable for children working at higher KS3 level as the content is almost the same.

If you would like advice about which level to enter your child for please send us a message.

The Lower KS3 group is aimed at children who have covered the KS2 syllabus.

11:10am - 11:55am - Spanish with Eva

These Spanish sessions with Eva are lots of fun, with learning taking place in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.

KS3 English - 1:35pm - 2:20pm

This group is aimed at children ages 11+ and will be covering a range of KS3 English topics. This half term we will be working on creative writing. This session is with Katie

English Language GCSE 1:30pm - 3pm

These lessons are with English teacher Kia. You can fine out more about Kia here. Children will be working to cover the IGCSE English Language syllabus over two years. Children will be expected to complete and hand in homework. Please note that if we get 4+ children the price will be reduced £126 or if we have the maximum of 8 children then it will be £96. if this happens we will issue a refund for the difference.

3pm - 4pm - Art

For art we are splitting in to two groups. Please book by choosing the group your child would like to mostly be in. There may be times, for example when one group is finishing a project, when we move children about for an odd session. Also if it becomes apparent that a child isn’t in the appropriate group we reserve the right to swap them over, and will let you know if this is the case.

Art 1 - Art with Lisa, looking in depth at different techniques and medium to create detailed pieces of art - great for older children who want to improve their art skills and perhaps prepare for further art study.

Art 2 - Art with Katie, working on a different project or with a different medium each week, sometimes looking at different artists and taking inspiration from various sources. Great for those who want to create projects using inspiration and their imagination.

Lunch

Children are welcome to eat their lunch on site and there is a break 11:55am - 12:40pm for this. Please ask your children to eat in non-carpeted rooms only and to tidy all their lunch things away and pick up any dropped food etc.

General info

If you are booking for more than one child then we are able to offer you a 5% discount. Use code Homeedtues2+ at checkout for this. If you currently receive benefits and will struggle to afford for your child to take part in the groups please get in touch as we may be able to offer a discounted place.

Children are welcome to stay between sessions and play in our rooms - we have a wide selection of games and toys, or of course they are welcome to bring their own activities. You are usually welcome to leave children with us during their lessons so long as you remain contactable - we will ask you to come in or to stay if your child needs you, or you are welcome to stay onsite with your child. We do ask that you are on site with your child between lessons and take responsibility for ensuring that your child gets to their lessons, (unless by prior agreement). We have a very busy day with lots of families taking part so the teachers and shop staff are not able to take responsibility for other children. We also ask that you ensure your child clears up after themselves before they leave.

For new families we have a guidance and expectations sheet that we will ask you and your child to agree to when you first join us.

Arts Award Discover

Arts Award Discover

Arts Award Discover is a nationally recognized, introductory-level Arts Award qualification for children and young people (ages 5 and up), managed by Trinity College London in association with Arts Council England. Participants create a personal "arts log" (portfolio) to evidence their creative experiences, including taking part in arts activities, researching an artist, and sharing their discoveries. It serves as a foundational award, encouraging curiosity, creativity, and confidence, and acts as a springboard to the higher-level Arts Award qualifications.

At The Place Stamford we will be covering the discover award over 8 weeks, looking at different types of art, exploring inspirational artists, taking part in a variety of arts projects and completing out arts logs.

The course will take place on 4th, 11th, 18th & 25th October, 8th, 15th, 29th November and 6th December. If you would like to join but will miss any of the sessions, get in touch and we can work around it to ensure your child meets all the goals.

Debate Club 11:25am - 12:25pm

Home Ed Thursday - week 3

This is the third session of a block of 6 lessons.
