Summer Writing Workshops - Poetry Playground
Parents of creative kids... This one's for you!
This summer we're running three creative writing workshops for young people aged 11-16 and there won’t be a worksheet in sight! Just imagination, games, discussion and inspiring writing prompts that make ideas impossible to switch off. If your child spends their life reading, doodling stories, making up characters, gaming, daydreaming or asking "what if...?", they'll fit right in.
We'll be building believable characters, writing poetry that doesn't have to rhyme, creating strange new worlds, and discovering that English is actually fun.
Led by specialist English teacher Kia Went, who has 20 years' teaching experience, these workshops are designed with neurodivergence at their heart. Relaxed, low-demand and SEND-friendly, they help young people grow in confidence, develop real GCSE English Language skills and, most importantly, discover the joy of writing.
📚 Story Makers – Wednesday 29th July
✍️ Poetry Playground – Wednesday 5th August
👾 Writing the Weird – Wednesday 26th August
10am-11.30am
£17.50 per workshop or all three for £45.

Gelli Printing
Botannical Gelli Plate Printing Workshop
Discover the playful world of mono-printing in this Gelli Plate Printing workshop.
Perfect for beginners and curious creatives alike, this hands-on session will guide you through the basics of creating vibrant, layered prints using a soft gel printing plate, acrylic paints and stamps. During the workshop, you’ll learn how to roll out colour, build layers, and experiment with marks, patterns and stamps to create unique prints.
Gelli plate printing is wonderfully unpredictable - each pull of the print reveals surprising textures and combinations, making every piece one-of-a-kind. Throughout the series of gelli printing workshops, we’ll explore simple techniques such as creating backgrounds, using stencils and masks, transferring textures from everyday objects, using bottanicals and creating with stamps. By the end of a session, you’ll have a collection of your own prints that can be used for collage, art journaling, cards, or standalone artwork. All materials are provided, and no previous printmaking experience is required—just bring your curiosity and a willingness to experiment. This relaxed and supportive workshop is a great opportunity to try something new, get creative with colour and texture, and enjoy the satisfying process of printmaking.
All materials and instructions are included, plus refreshments.
