Maths

KS3 10:45 - 11:30

IGCSE Foundation 11:35 - 12:10

GCSE Further Maths 12:15 - 1pm

IGCSE Higher 1:10 - 1:55pm

There are two lessons a week for the GCSE/IGCSE classes. The aim is to cover the syllabus across one year by taking both lessons, or over two years by taking one lesson a week. For students wanting to take Higher IGCSE they need to have covered the foundation material, hence they could take foundation GCSE twice a week in year 1 and higher GCSE twice a week in year 2.

There is a lot of homework set in all the courses, and students need to complete this in orer to progress well with the course. Katie will create a spreadsheet that you can use to check what homework has been handed in and marked,

The Further Maths GCSE course is fast pace aiming to complete the syllabus and be exam ready for summer 2027. This course assumes all the knowledge of higher IGCSE, although it may be possible to study alongside our higher IGCSE course for keen mathenaticians.

If you would like advice about which level to enter your child for please send us a message.

The KS3 group is aimed at children who have covered the KS2 syllabus.

Creative English

In these groups children will look at different children’s stories, poems and books each week and complete a variety of activities inspired by the texts. These are fun sessions which encourage children’s imaginations and love of literature.

These sessions are split in to three groups, with age guide lines,

Creative English 1, ages approx 5 - 8, 11:35 - 12:10. For this group there is no requirement for independent writing.

Creative English 2, ages approx 7 - 10, 10:45 - 11:30. For this group it is expected that children are able to write simple sentences independently.

Creative English 3, ages approx 10 - 14, 2 - 2:45. For this session children need to be able to read and write independently.

These sessions are with Charlotte.

Business with Jasmine, 1:10 - 1:55

In this group children are working together in small groups to build a business. Each week will take on a different theme learning skills and knowledge to turn them in to young entrepreneurs. Children will be aiming to work on products that they would like to bring to market. The price for this workshop includes as small budget for each group to get their business ideas started, along with a plan for a ‘Dragons Den’ style session for them to pitch their business ideas and gain investment from both The Place and parents.

Children will be working in small groups with a mix of children starting at the beginning, and some that have already been working on their business ideas.

This group is run by Jasmine.

English Language GCSE 2pm - 3:30pm

These lessons are with English teacher Kia. You can find out more about Kia here. Children will be working to cover the IGCSE English Language syllabus over two years.

Some in the class are aiming to take their GCSE in summer 2027, while others will be taking them later. New children are welcome to join the group.

As we currently have 8 children the cost per lesson is £16. Please be aware that if anyone was to leave the group the cost will increase a little.

Art, Ages 7 - 13, 3pm - 4pm

In these sessions children have access to our wide range of art and craft materials. Some sessions we will have projects that all will complete and in others children will choose (with help) from a range of activities. This session is usually with Katie and sometimes with Lisa or Alison. It is aimed at children ages 7 - 13.

Please note - there will also be a monthly art and craft session for ages 13+. More info coming soon.

Lunch

Children are welcome to eat their lunch on site. Please ask your children to eat in non-carpeted rooms only and to tidy all their lunch things away and pick up any dropped food etc.

General info

Children are welcome to stay between sessions and play in our rooms - we have a wide selection of games and toys, or of course they are welcome to bring their own activities. You are usually welcome to leave children with us during their lessons so long as you remain contactable - we will ask you to come in or to stay if your child needs you, or you are welcome to stay onsite with your child. We do ask that you are on site with your child between lessons and take responsibility for ensuring that your child gets to their lessons, (unless by prior agreement). We have a very busy day with lots of families taking part so the teachers and shop staff are not able to take responsibility for other children. We also ask that you ensure your child clears up after themselves before they leave.

For new families we have a guidance and expectations sheet that we will ask you and your child to agree to when you first join us.
