Home Education Day - Friday

This is the first week of a four week block which starts on Monday 25th April.

Maths KS3 10:20am - 11:05am

In this session we are covering the KS3 mathematics syllabus. The aim is to prepare students for the maths GCSE course. In September we will have KS3, pre-GCSE/foundation GCSE and Higher GCSE classes. Katie will be happy to advise which classes students should take in September. Homework will be set most weeks. This session is with Katie.

KS3 English 11:10am - 11:55pm

This group is aimed at children ages 11+ and will be covering a range of KS3 English topics. This term we will be continuing with Romeo and Juliet using a variety of resources. On the final week we will host a masked party to celebrate the end of term, with Romeo & Juliet themed activities and challenges.

Business Enterprise 12:40 - 1:25

In this group children are working together in small groups to build a business. Each week will take on a different theme learning skills and knowledge to turn them in to young entrepreneurs. Children have already been working in small groups on different business ideas and they will continue this. The price for this workshop includes a small budget for each group to get their business ideas started.

If new children would like to join this group then they would need to slot in to existing business groups.

This group is run by Jasmine.

This session is run by Tom, a RS and Philososphy teacher and home educating dad. It is aimed mainly at ages approx 10 - 16 though older children are very welcome to join. More info on what will be covered coming soon.

Lunch

There is time for lunch 11:55am to 12:40pm and we ask that children eat in the workshop room only. Please ask your children to tidy all their lunch things away and pick up any dropped food etc.

General info

If you are booking for more than one child then we are able to offer you a 5% discount. Use code Homeedtues2+ at checkout for this (you will need to book each session separately). If you currently receive benefits and will struggle to afford for your child to take part in the groups please get in touch as we are able to offer a discounted place.

If you haven’t been to groups at The Place Stamford before and would like to come for a trial session before booking please get in touch. We are not usually able to refund sessions missed.

Children are welcome to stay between sessions and play in the snug - we have a wide selection of games and toys, or of course they are welcome to bring their own activities. You are usually welcome to leave children with us during their lessons so long as you remain contactable - we will ask you to come in or to stay if your child needs you, or you are welcome to stay onsite with your child. For children younger than 11 we ask that you are on site with your child between lessons and take responsibility for ensuring that your child gets to their lessons, (unless by prior agreement). We have a very busy day with lots of families taking part so the teachers and shop staff are not able to take responsibility for other children. We also ask that you ensure your child clears up after themselves before they leave.

Please note that the shop rooms upstairs will be open to customers through the day.

For new families we have a guidance and expectations sheet that we will ask you and your child to agree to when you first join us.
