Home Education Day - Wednesday

This is the first week of a seven week block.

KS3 English, 10:00 - 10:45

This group is aimed at children ages 11+ and will be covering a range of KS3 English topics. This session is with Charlotte.

Spanish for all ages, 10:55-11:40

These sessions are with Eva and are a fun and enjoyable way of learning Spanish. If we have enough people booking we may put on a second group to split in to beginners and improvers but for now we are taking bookings for the one mixed group.

GCSE Business Studies, 11:50 - 12:35

This session is with Laura, who will be covering the business GCSE over two years, for students who wish to sit the GCSE from summer 2028. There will be homework each week which needs to be completed in order to cover the course.

Maths

IGCSE Foundation 1:15pm - 2pm

IGCSE Higher 3pm - 3:50pm

GCSE Further Maths 2pm - 2:55pm

There are two lessons a week for the IGCSE classes.

For foundaiton, on a Wednesday we work in a small group to work through past papers and topics that the individual students need to practice. On a Thursday we progress through the subjects in the syllabus.

For Higher the aim is to cover the syllabus across one year by taking both lessons, or over two years by taking one lesson a week. Students taking Higher IGCSE need to have covered the foundation material.

There is a lot of homework set in all the courses, and students need to complete this in order to progress well with the course. Katie will create a spreadsheet that you can use to check what homework has been handed in and marked.

The Further Maths GCSE course is fast paced aiming to complete the syllabus and be exam ready for summer 2027. This course assumes all the knowledge of higher IGCSE, although it may be possible to study alongside our higher IGCSE course for keen mathematicians.

If you would like advice about which level to enter your child for please send us a message.

Lunch

Children are welcome to bring lunch with them and eat on site in our workshop room. Please ask your children to tidy all their lunch things away and pick up any dropped food etc. Please also ask them to eat in the workshop room only and not any of our other rooms.

General info

If you haven’t been to groups at The Place Stamford before and would like to come for a trial session before booking please get in touch. We are not usually able to refund sessions missed.

Children are welcome to stay between sessions and play in the snug - we have a wide selection of games and toys, or of course they are welcome to bring their own activities. You are usually welcome to leave children with us during their lessons so long as you remain contactable - we will ask you to come in or to stay if your child needs you, or you are welcome to stay onsite with your child. For children younger than 11 we ask that you are on site with your child between lessons and take responsibility for ensuring that your child gets to their lessons, (unless by prior agreement). We have a very busy day with lots of families taking part so the teachers and shop staff are not able to take responsibility for other children. We also ask that you ensure your child clears up after themselves before they leave.

Please note that the shop rooms upstairs will be open to customers through the day.

For new families we have a guidance and expectations sheet that we will ask you and your child to agree to when you first join us.
