Autumn Craft Retreat

October 2nd - 4th/5th

We are thrilled to launch our first public craft retreat full of incredible arts and crafts taught by local artists and experts, delectable hearty meals and space and time to relax, rewind and recharge.

Where: Stamford is a picturesque market town, best known for its beautiful Georgian architecture and bustling town centre. It is situated on the River Welland in south west Lincolnshire.

The town is home to a wide range of fantastic independent shops, having won ‘best independent street’ along with many other accolades. It also has a thriving food and drink scene with an excellent variety of independent cafes, pubs and restaurants, the majority of which showcase local, seasonal produce.

When:Arrive from 5pm on Friday 2nd October to a prosecco reception. Stay until 4pm on Sunday. There is a small supplement to pay to stay for an extra evening which includes an evening meal, a surprise craft workshop and breakfast on Monday morning. In this case check out is a strict 10am.

The Art & Crafts: Our art and craft sessions will be run by Katie and Lisa, local artists and owners of The Place Stamford. They organise and run a wide range of arts and crafts. During this retreat you will be able to take part in over £250 worth of activities including the following:

- Large felted landscape picture

- Fused Glass, creating your own suncatcher

- Silver workshop making a ring or a circle wire pendant

- Lino printing creating a range of cards and prints

- UV resin using dried flowers, glitters and glass chips to create pendants, earrings, keyrings and a trinket pot

- Dried flower art, creating your own hanging hoop.

There will always be crafts available, with relaxing options such as needle felting and circular weaving, plus opportunities to learn, improve or expand your crochet skills.

The Food: Over the weekend, all meals will be home-cooked, flavourful, and satisfying—designed to keep you fueled. Ingredients will be fresh and where possible, locally sourced. Breakfasts will be varied, you are invited to serve yourself with home made granola, fruit and yoghurt, or toast and preserves. Eggs will be available, freshly cooked on request. Lunches will be light but filling, with things like fresh salads, soups, sandwiches, and easy seasonal dishes that won’t leave you feeling sluggish before an afternoon of crafting. There’ll always be something tasty and straightforward to grab so you can get back to your projects. In the evenings, we’ll sit down to hearty, proper dinners—comforting meals made from scratch, think warming one-pots, rice dishes, roasted veg, and crowd-pleasing favourites that hit the spot after a full day. There’ll also be snacks, tea, coffee, and the occasional sweet treat available throughout, because no creative weekend is complete without a home made cake (or two). Overall, expect good, honest food—no fuss, just well made delicious meals, to keep you happily fed.

Book Here:

Our Venue: In Stamford Town itself, our large Georgian  venue was built in 1842. It has been used by the Marquess of Exeter to provide accommodation for guests during Queen Victoria’s visit to nearby Burghley House, has featured in Middle March and was once a prominent Stamford hotel. It is now used to provide hostel accommodation to groups like ours.

This accommodation is perfect for our needs. Although it’s not one of the luxury Stamford hotels you see advertised, it provides a relaxed, homely and rustic accommodation, unpretentious communal living spaces, a quaint conservatory dining space and a range of simple bedrooms each with their own facilities.

A little more about what we will be doing:

We will welcome you on the Friday evening from 5pm, with a glass of prosecco and nibbles. We will show you to your room and around the venue, then you can choose to relax or get your crafting on straight away! On Friday evening we will have fused glass and the felting workshops. You will create your suncatcher and start on the background of your felted masterpiece. We will share a delicious evening meal and have crafts available in the communal rooms.

On Saturday our meals will be interspersed with more craft workshops where you will learn new skills as well as continuing with your felted picture. In the evening you are welcome to explore Stamford – we will be happy to recommend places to eat, and can even book a table for you – or join us for an evening meal at the venue and continue with your craft projects.

On Sunday breakfast and lunch are included along with two more craft workshops and the opportunity to finish your felting or weaving.  Leaving time is from 4pm, however you are welcome to join us for a third night, paying a supplement, in which case your evening meal is included along with a special surprise craft workshop.

Costs and Payments:

To join us from Friday until Sunday the cost is £495 per person. This includes all your crafting materials and tuition, delicious food and of course your room. If you are coming with friends you are welcome to share a room or have a room to yourselves for no extra cost.
